A Boston duck boat lost part of its rooftop as it failed to clear the clear a bridge. According to fire officials the Boston Duck Tours boat crashed into an overpass Sunday evening. Also, due to the low height of the bridges Storrow Drive is restricted to commercial traffic.

The bus was on a city tour with 20 passengers aboard. No injuries were reported in the accident. The boat was later moved to Leverett Circle where passengers boarded another duck boat, Steve McDonald, with the Boston Fire Department told.

McDonald further informed that passengers stepped off the duck boat safely using a small ladder because the back stairs got damaged in the accident.

The company that operates the duck tours also passed a statement on Sunday evening informing that “A first year Driver was diverted off the standard tour route due to Beacon Hill (Beacon Street) being closed.”

The statement further explained that Driver’s action will be analysed by company safety experts. However, the statement also indicated that the accident was not intentional. A thorough analysis of the accident will also be conducted in order to reach a conclusion.

Initially State police told that a warning was issued to the driver who was driving the boat but later it was said that he was cited for an violating the over height restriction.
